God’s people had awaited the fulfillment of the promised Messiah for centuries. They knew He would be the Son of David, a branch from the root of Jesse, wisdom incarnate, their lord and king. The light of His presence would show all people the paths of righteousness. Indeed, this Messiah would be Emmanuel, God with us. All the promises of God are fulfilled in the incarnation, the birth of Jesus Christ, who is both truly God and truly man. He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, the Savior. Through His death and resurrection, He has saved the world from sin and death. Join us this Advent and Christmas as we consider the mystery of Christ’s incarnation through the words of the great ancient hymn, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.”
